A network, usually constructed with serial lines,
extending over distances greater than 1 kilometer.

Refers to a channel or transmission medium capable
of passing more frequencies than a standard 3 kHz voice channel.

A portion of the screen that can display its own
application or document. Often used to mean a computer graphical-user-interface
(GUI) window.

A standard API for SNMP programming in the Windows
environment. It handles SNMP communications between SNMP applications and many
transport layers (i.e. TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, plus others).

To store data on a disk or add data to a file.

The authentication string used to change data in
SNMP records.

| write protection |
A safeguard to prevent the accidental deletion of
data on a diskette. 3 1/2" diskettes have a plastic tab which must be slid
into place to uncover the small square hole to protect data on the diskette.
